COMMUNITY HIGHLIGHT: Christina Vega
Meet Christina Vega, publisher at Blue Cactus Press. A local independent and hybrid publisher crafting books that serve as community resources for and by historically marginalized groups.
Their work centers Queer and BIPOC voices in authorship, staff, and collaborations. With many of their books focusing on caregiving, community building, equity, and self-actualization.
We asked Christina to get real - real fast with us, as we pose deep questions with the hope of opening us all up at the human level. When asked what makes them feel most seen, Christina shares candidly with us the invisible constraints gender often puts on humans. They remind us that who we want to be and how we’ll be received shouldn’t have anything to do with the ways in which we present ourselves. Treating others with dignity and respect are simple, small ways we can create powerful and meaningful connections.
